Welcome Bay School Visit

Recently I went to visit Julie Bishop at Welcome Bay School in Tauranga. Julia completed the Science Teaching Leadership Program in 2021. Julia shared with us how science is now a key focus of learning at the school. She mentioned how the regular use of the House of Science kits has impacted teachers knowledge and confidence in teaching science. Julie shared the long term science plan at her school and how they weave the science capabilities throughout the primary school cycle between Years 1-6. We then went for a tour through the school to see how teachers have been teaching science so far this year. It was great to visit the school alongside my STLP colleagues from Auckland that came down.
